Balloon flower

Its flower bud swells up like a balloon before opening.

Liatris

Often used in summer bouquets, this perennial attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

Bee balm

Widespread across North America, bee balm has medicinal uses in mouthwash, as an antiseptic, and to treat headaches and fevers.
