Looking through all that remains of one of the old gates of St. Augustine, Florida.
Founded in 1565, the city of St. Augustine is the oldest continually-occupied European-established settlement in the continental United States. It served as the capital of Spanish Florida for 200 years.
Once through the gates and inside the old town, visitors can stroll through streets that (except for the modern wares sold in shops) look much as they must have looked in the late 16th century.
