If there are two full moons in one calendar month, the second is called a “blue moon.” Last night’s full moon was a blue moon, and I really wanted to photograph it because there will not be another one for three years. Due to the hills and trees that surround our house, I had to stay awake until after 1:00 a.m. for the moon to be high enough in the sky to be photographed. But alas, I could not photograph it due to the heavy cloud cover here.
I had done a practice shot the night before, using my small telephoto lens. Here’s the photo, and I doubt that the moon would have looked any differently had I been able to see it last night…
Fabulous shot!

Thank you! I just saw a shot taken by a friend of mine who used a point-and-shoot camera, and her photo was amazing. It put mine to shame! 🙂

Wonderful photo, Deb! I normally overexpose the shots I try to take of the moon 😦

Thank you. I always overexpose my moon shots. This time I looked up the best camera settings for photographing the moon and tried those. Worked fairly well!

Thank you! I wish I could have captured the moon closer to the horizon.
