Poet and literary critic Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) is one of the most important figures in English poetry. With his friend William Wordsworth he was a founder of the Romantic Movement in England, and he was a major influence on American author Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Some of his best known works include The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Kubla Khan, and Christabel.
