Sharing this week’s song of peace for our world:
Written in 1955 for the International Children’s Choir, this song has been recorded by a large number of professional singers. It continues to be performed world-wide, particularly during the Christmas season and is used in worship services of many faiths. Recently the song was performed by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City at the close of the Interfaith Prayer Service and Remembrance, presided over by Pope Francis, at Ground Zero.
Let there be peace on earth, sung by the harlem boys choir
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father
Family all are we.
Let us walk with each other
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
With peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father
Family all are we.
Let us walk with each other
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Music is the universal language of mankind.
My faith calls me to work for peace and justice and to accept and love all people. In a world that seems to be so full of hatred, I must do all I can to pursue justice and peace in my own little corner of the globe.
I so adore this song!! 😀
