Sharing this week’s song of peace for our world:
Motown singer Diana Ross released Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand) in 1970, after leaving the group The Supremes in which she had been the lead singer for over a decade. During her concert performances of the song, Ross often would ask the entire audience to reach out and touch one another’s hands.
In 1984, Vicki McClure sang this song before an estimated TV audience of 2.5 billion people during the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles, CA. In 1985, Ashford and Simpson performed the song with Teddy Pendergrass in the Philadelphia portion of Live Aid, and in 2005, Ross herself performed the song in closing Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope.
reach out and touch (somebody’s hand) by Diana Ross
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
(Just try)
Take a little time out of your busy day
To give encouragement
To someone who’s lost the way
(Just try)
Or would I be talking to a stone
If I asked you
To share a problem that’s not your own
We can change things if we start giving
Why don’t you
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
(Just try)
If you see an old friend on the street
And he’s down
Remember his shoes could fit your feet
(Just try)
Try a little kindness you’ll see
It’s something that comes very naturally
We can change things if we start giving
Why don’t you
Reach out and touch
Why don’t you (Why don’t you)
Reach out and touch somebody’s hand
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Music is the universal language of mankind.
My faith calls me to work for peace and justice and to accept and love all people. In a world that seems to be so full of hatred, I must do all I can to pursue justice and peace in my own little corner of the globe.
I can still feel myself swaying to the music.

Thank you so much! I hope I don’t run out of songs. I’m not familiar with much from recent years.
