African Violets: Fragile or Tough?

Some sources describe African Violets as fragile, needing tender care, and difficult to grow.  Other sources describe them as tough plants that are easy to grow on a sunny windowsill.  Over the years I’ve acquired many African Violets that are in bloom when I bring them home, but after the flowers die back, the plant never blooms again.  This one is the exception.  I’m excited!

I had to care for a couple when housesitting some years back. I followed the directions perfectly, but those plants kicked the bucket all the same!
