It’s interesting how a distance of only thirty miles can mean a difference of about two weeks in the blossoming of trees and blooming of flowers. At my father’s house today I took these photos with my phone. It will be about two more weeks before we see these blooms at our house, thirty miles away.
Now here it seems to be the opposite! My mom lives in Dallas, about 250 miles north of me, but she seems to get everything in bloom either before me or the same time as me! I watch as I drive along the highway, and I can never tell a difference in the wildflowers.

I know here it’s a matter of elevation. We’re at a higher elevation than my dad. We also are in a forested area, and everything gets less direct sun than in town 30 miles away.
