Home from the hospital now for a little over two weeks, I am recovering well from my medical emergency, although not as quickly as I would like to. I still am on a restricted diet and have lost a good bit of weight. People remark about how pale I look. Although I feel almost back to normal in the mornings, in the afternoons I slow down, and most afternoons I nap.
My first outing was a simple walkabout in my own garden with camera in hand, of course. The changes in the garden during my five-day hospital stay were evident. Here are a few of the photos:
Since then, I have ventured out to the pharmacy, the supermarket, the garden center, to my dad’s to take care of some things for him, to church, and to grandson B.’s basketball and soccer games and birthday party. Most of the trips were made in the mornings so that I could rest in the afternoons. We traveled to our daughter’s on a Friday morning; I rested that afternoon, and then we watched B. play in an evening baseball game. The following day B. had a morning soccer game and an afternoon birthday party, but I made it through only about half of the party before having to go inside and rest.
I did go back to work last week. I teach part time in the evenings, two nights a week, and if I don’t work I don’t get paid, so off to work I went. The first night they sent me home early because they said I looked very pale. (This frightened me quite a bit, but when I got home my husband said I didn’t look any paler than I have been looking. Folks at work just didn’t see me at my worst.) The second night I did fine. And, it’s off to work again tomorrow night. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. The nurses in the hospital told me it could take many weeks before I get all my strength back.

Thank you! I’m trying to take care of myself. My fibromyalgia is flaring up, too, as a result of all of this. 😦 My husband is taking good care of me and encouraging me to rest. I truly appreciate your prayers!

I think you have accomplished more than I do in a week or two and I have not gone through what you have! Just keep resting. You can explore the world virtually if you get cabin fever — you don’t need to go out and get any germs! Rest and recover.

Yes, you are right. I just need to rest. I did go to church today, too. I forgot to mention that in my post. Then I came home and slept almost 3 hours this afternoon… Thank you for your comments. I truly appreciate your concern!
