On January 12, some lucky couple will have an unforgettable wedding ceremony on a Zamboni machine during a professional ice hockey game between the Florida Panthers and the Calgary Flames.
A contest to see who gets to have this unusual wedding ceremony is being sposored by The Florida Panthers ice hockey team, radio station WRMF in West Palm Beach, Florida and the KVJ Morning Show. Hilariously, our granddaughter submitted the winning essay!
On a lark, she submitted the essay, and while she was visiting us this past week she received a phone call telling her that she had won! The only problem is that she is only 18 years old, and her fiance is non-existent. She doesn’t even have a serious boyfriend at the moment. Her win prompted a lot of laughter here, and the contest sponsors had to be notified that she would not be available on the 12th.
Oh well, maybe next time!
(For those of you who don’t know what a Zamboni machine is, it is an ice resurfacing machine that cleans and smooths the surface of an ice rink.)
I was about to ask what a Zamboni is.

It’s a rather large machine that actually coats the ice with a thin sheet of water that freezes and smooths out the ice.
