I don’t know if the mushrooms growing by our river birch are poisonous Jack O’Lantern mushrooms or edible Chanterelles, but they are quite large and quite beautiful.

I was afraid to touch it. We’ve had a cold front move in, so it’s no longer beautiful. It has turned black now and is dying. It’s really cold here!

I think they’re the poisonous kind, but they are a look-alike for the edible ones. I would never eat mushrooms found in nature! It’s too risky!

I wouldn’t risk it either. My friend in Europe is always picking mushrooms for tea/dinner and it makes me so anxious!

Thank you! No, I never pick mushrooms. So many are poisonous! And obviously, I can’t tell them apart.
