“All things are alive and beautiful”

I don’t know if the mushrooms growing by our river birch are poisonous Jack O’Lantern mushrooms or edible Chanterelles, but they are quite large and quite beautiful.

What is it-

“By the mediation of a thousand little mosses and fungi, the most unsightly objects become radiant of beauty. There seem to be two sides of this world, presented us at different times, as we see things in growth or dissolution, in life or death. And seen with the eye of the poet, as God sees them, all things are alive and beautiful.”

(Henry David Thoreau)

Wonderfully beautiful – but best to play it safe I’d say?

    1. I was afraid to touch it. We’ve had a cold front move in, so it’s no longer beautiful. It has turned black now and is dying. It’s really cold here!

I don’t think they are edible but they are lovely to look at.

    1. I think they’re the poisonous kind, but they are a look-alike for the edible ones. I would never eat mushrooms found in nature! It’s too risky!

  3. I wouldn’t risk it either. My friend in Europe is always picking mushrooms for tea/dinner and it makes me so anxious!
The quote was beautiful. I read it thrice. Xxx

    1. Thank you! No, I never pick mushrooms. So many are poisonous! And obviously, I can’t tell them apart.

      1. I often wished I knew as much about plants and flowers like my grandparents 🙂
