Hope and healing

After several weeks of at-home physical therapy and occupational therapy, my husband is recovering from the compression fracture in his spine.

He has very little pain and is able to get around the house now on his own, although he still must use a walker. I am able to get him into the car, and he can ride with me on trips to the pharmacy or the grocery store, but he sits in the car and waits for me while I do the speed-shopping. Sitting for long periods of time still is difficult for him.  He is supposed to alternate between sitting and lying on the bed or sofa.

We are hoping it won’t be long before he can walk with a cane instead of having to use the walker.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune–without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

    1. Thank you. I took that photo out of my kitchen window. I don’t get many chances to get out and take photos lately. I think of you often and wish the best for you, too, in the new year.
