On Walking to Get the Newspaper…

It’s been awhile since I was able to walk down our road to get the newspaper. Today was only the second time that I’ve walked that distance since my husband fell and sustained a fractured spine.  Our sweet neighbors have been bringing our paper to us.

The newspaper is delivered to a newspaper “tube” located at the intersection of our road (a dirt and gravel lane actually) and the paved road that leads to the highway.  That makes things convenient for the newspaper carrier but not for me, although I guess it’s convenient enough on days we go out in the car to buy groceries or go to the pharmacy or a doctor appointment.  Before my husband fell, on days we didn’t go out, I walked down to get the paper, but after his fall I didn’t want to leave him alone even for the time it would take to walk down and back. He has now improved enough that I feel comfortable leaving him for that short length of time.

I took a few photos along the way today, including one of the neighbor’s daffodils which are coming up in the dead of winter…

    1. It’s cold here, too. And windy and rainy. Stays just above freezing, so no snow.

    1. Yes, it did. I want to begin walking for a longer time every day, and my husband is improving enough that I may be able to do that soon. If it ever stops raining!
