I love to wear warm, cozy turtlenecks in the winter and wanted to purchase a new one this season. I finally found one on sale on the website of a very reputable clothing company from which I have purchased several items over the years, and I ordered it. But what an unpleasant surprise when it arrived!
The turtleneck had a terrible odor. A strong, chemical odor. An I-can’t-quite-describe-it-or-place-it odor. It was horrible. I decided to try airing it out and hung it up, but the stink was so bad it began to spread through the house. So I washed the turtleneck, in cold water as the instructions advised, but after being washed it smelled even worse.
It couldn’t be hung up to dry inside. The stench was “driving us out of house and home.” So I hung it on the front porch in the freezing cold and left it out there for 4 days. To no avail.
In the end I wrote a very uncomplimentary review on the company’s website and returned the sweater. As it turned out, other people had written similar reviews. Will I get my money back? I don’t know, especially since I did wash the sweater. I’m just glad to get it out of my house.
What a disappointment that must have been!

I wonder what the odour was from…was it wool…baa, baa, stinky sheep? Online orders can be unpredictable!

I really don’t know, but my guess is that it was stinky sheep. I’ve never ordered anything online that smelled that bad!
