The gift of springtime

Crocuses along the road

“A single crocus blossom ought to be enough to convince our heart that springtime, no matter how predictable, is somehow a gift, gratuitous, gratis, a grace.”

At our Maryland home my wife planted crocuses all over the front lawn. If winter wasn’t cold, I’d have to hustle to mow the lawn near the end of December, because you can’t do it once the crocuses started coming up.

It was glorious. I miss it.
