At the feeder: Mourning Doves

Mourning doves never actually eat from the feeder. They gather the dropped bird seed that is on the ground. But they always wait their turn…

“A mourning dove’s beauty is an understated one: the colors of its feathers ranging through various shades of gray and drab violet, often with a striking splash of turquoise around the eyes.”

The turtle doves in my garden just started giving their first baby flying lessons! They’re exceptionally early this year!
