Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Seasons/Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall – “Sealed With a Kiss”

Though we’ve got to say good-bye for the summer
Darling, I promise you this
I’ll send you all my love
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

Written and composed by Peter Udell and Gary Geld, Sealed With a Kiss was first recorded in 1960 by the group The Four Voices. However, it did not become a hit until it was recorded in 1962 by Brian Hyland. It became his most successful single, and he re-released it in 1975 and recorded a version in German.

Sealed With a Kiss was covered in 1967 by Gary Lewis and the Playboys, in 1971 by Bobbie Vinton, and in 1989 by Jason Donovan.

Though we’ve got to say good-bye for the summer
Darling, I promise you this
I’ll send you all my love
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

Yes it’s gonna be a cold, lonely summer
But I’ll fill the emptiness
I’ll send you all my dreams
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

I’ll see you in the sunlight
I’ll hear your voice everywhere
I’ll run to tenderly hold you
But, Darling you won’t be there

I don’t wanna say good-bye for the summer
Knowing the love we’ll miss
Oh let us make a pledge
To meet in September
And seal it with a kiss

Yes it’s gonna be a cold, lonely summer
But I’ll fill the emptiness
I’ll send you all my love
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
