It’s been four years since the Indigo Buntings have been seen passing through on their northward migration. For the past two days they’ve been at the feeder, and I’ve enjoyed watching and photographing them through the kitchen window.
Beautiful birds. I have yet to see one here and we’re right next door. I guess they are getting what they want at your house. LOL! I did see 2 new birds I’ve never seen before this year….the Towhee and umm….gonna have to look it up again.
Beautiful! I think we have them here this year too — we have a lot of Eastern Bluebirds, so when I have seen those flashes of blue in the bushes, I haven’t been sure if they are buntings or bluebirds. But they act different — the bluebirds sit in the tops of the trees and flit around more leisurely — so I think they are Indigo Buntings.
The Indigo Buntings here are slightly smaller than bluebirds and are almost completely blue, and you’re right, they do often appear as flashes of blue.
Gorgeous!!!

I never saw one until a few years ago when they began coming to our bird feeder. I actually had to look them up in a bird book to identify them.

We used to have a lot of Towhees. This year I’ve seen one or two. They don’t eat from the feeder. They like to eat seed that has fallen to the ground.

I have to look them up also. The second bird was a Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

I haven’t seen any Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in a couple of years. I guess they like your yard, and the Indigo Buntings like our yard! LOL

They are very pretty, one of the most brightly colored birds we see here.
