Where are the cardinals, sparrows and doves?

Our bird feeders come out in late Autumn each year and are put away again in the Spring, specifically to keep visitors like this one from destroying the feeders and throwing the pieces into the woods…

The feeders are filled now, and the bears are resting somewhere for the Winter, but many of the birds we usually see are not showing up. We have some Tufted Titmice, Carolina Chickadees, and Nuthatches…

But there are no sparrows..

There are no doves…

And most of all, there are no cardinals. We usually see cardinals year-round, and they flock to the feeders in cold weather…

I wonder where they all are.

I know what you mean, the morning doves are few and far between.

    1. Yes, the cardinals have reappeared here since I wrote this post, and I’ve seen a few sparrows, but I’ve still seen no mourning doves.

Same here, I will see one or two and that is all. I did have a flock of about 8 doves come through earlier this month. They did not stay long.
