Flame azaleas grow wild here in the mountains of North Georgia, and I always look forward to seeing them bloom in the spring. They may very well be my favorite flowers. Unfortunately, on the wild azalea shrub outside my kitchen window there is only one, rather sad bloom this year.

However, through the woods on the neighbor’s property there is a large flame azalea with beautiful orange blooms.

“Come Fairies, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame!” (William Butler Yeats)

I’m used to seeing azaleas when I tune in to the Masters for Sunday’s round, but alas not this year!
