From the Heart

A dear friend recently introduced me to From the Heart, a Facebook group dedicated to spreading good cheer to the elderly by sending birthday and holiday cards, cards of encouragement, and other greeting cards. My friend signed up both my husband and my father as card recipients, and as of last Friday the cards began to arrive.

Some of the cards are homemade. Some are purchased. But the senders all write a lovely note inside and personalize the card in whatever way they can based on the information that was submitted to the group about the recipient’s age, medical condition, former occupation, military service, and interests.

My father has been thrilled to receive cards from all over the United States. My husband was actually moved to tears by the cards he received.

This one was from a 9-year-old named Ari…

From the Heart is a private Facebook group, but anyone interested in participating can join after answering a few questions and agreeing to adhere to the group rules. I’ve joined and will try to participate as often as I can by sending cards to others. The hard part is deciding to whom to send cards. The group has 16 pages of recipients!

    2. I don’t want to put the addresses here where the whole world can see them. What would be the best way to get them to you? Email?
