We have a clematis in Texas that looks remarkably like this. It’s non-native, and known generally as ‘autumn clematis’ or ‘sweet autumn clematis’ (Clematis terniflora). In east Texas, it will climb high into other shrubs and pines — quite a sight!
These photos actually are of clematis that is in one of my boxwood shrubs. I’ve had my clematis plant for about 20 years, and it usually grows around the porch rails of my front porch. However, this year the only blooms were on the part that covered the boxwood. I’ve never seen it climb as high as pines. That must be quite something!
