It’s been a long time since I witnessed a sunset from my front porch. But I’m no longer driving to my father’s house every day to help care for him and then coming home after dark each evening. Sadly, he passed away on Tuesday after eight months of being in at-home hospice care.
He was a remarkable man, always kind, always asking others what he could do for them, always giving a blessing to anyone who came to visit or to help care for him. He will be greatly missed.
“Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
You were graced with a beautiful, peaceful sunset. I hope the days to come are equally peaceful.

Thank you. My father lived a good life, a long life, and I am at peace with his passing.

Now here we are in January, and I’m just now responding to your comment. Thank you. We had a lovely memorial service for Dad, with military honors.
