Cardinals in the snow

I know so many people who say that they’ve never seen a cardinal in their garden or in the feeder and others who say it is very rare to see one. I see cardinals year round, and they sometimes come in great numbers to my bird feeders. They usually come in pairs. And they’re very good about waiting their turn if the feeder is in use.

In common folklore, visits from cardinals are seen as signs from loved ones who have passed away. If that’s true, I have loved ones visiting me every day.

During our recent snowy weekend I captured these cardinals through my kitchen window…

I don’t live very far from you, but I tend to see cardinals in “spats” . . . when certain plants are producing seeds.
