Flame azaleas grow wild here in the mountains of North Georgia, and I always look forward to seeing them bloom in the spring. They may very well be my favorite flowers. Unfortunately, the wild azalea shrub outside my kitchen window hasn’t bloomed at all since 2020.
However, through the woods on both my property and the neighbor’s property there are large flame azaleas with beautiful orange blooms. (Photographed from afar because there’s no way I’m going tramping through the woods with snakes about.)
“Come Fairies, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame!” (William Butler Yeats)
