The house in which I grew up was built in 1952 in town, but the area had once been a pecan grove. When the house was constructed, the pecan trees were already mature and quite large. Most are still standing and still producing some pecans.

They don’t produce many pecans anymore. When I was a child, however, we did harvest them.
